How to avoid prosecution if a delivery person is injured on your work premises.

How do you control it? What are they doing, where are they coming to? Are they coming to the front desk to make a delivery? Are they coming into a workshop to make a delivery? You can stipulate and remove access by implementing ‘Site Rules’. Limit their access to risk.

You can also contact the branch. If you go to the branch that locally engages them, they need to pass on any instruction given to them. The ‘duty of care’ is with the person who is engaging them to deliver the courier parcels on their behalf.

Worksafe will not prosecute you because a visitor tripped over a step. So this is where you need to think, what is the real risk, what is really going to hurt people?

Start focusing your resource time and energy on the big stuff; what is really going to hurt someone properly. If you can’t find anything sitting up in that space, then you come down from there.
